How To Restore Your Wordpress Database If Your Content Magically Dissapears!I decided it was time to make some tweaks to my blog today and poked around in my Wordpress dashboard to make the changes when I clicked on something, I have no idea what it was, that erased every post and page from my blog.  It was as if someone came by with a magic eraser and said, hmmm, let’s delete all of Kerie’s content today!  I refreshed my blog like a mad-woman for about 15 minutes, figuring that it was some glitch that would work itself out.  All that was left was my design and sidebars – that was it!!!  It soon dawned on me that I either had to re-create my entire blog, which I was not looking forward to doing, or figure out a way to get all of my content back.  That’s when I remembered this little plugin that I installed a few months ago…

If you have a blog and do not have this plugin, Wordpress Database Backup, then I highly suggest that you install it, for your own peace of mind.  You see, what this plugin does is send me an email every week with a backup of my blog database.  I’ve been collecting the backups in my email inbox and never had to use it until today.  I logged into my email inbox, retrieved the most recent database backup version and completed the following steps:

  1. Login to CPanel (I use HostGator – I don’t know if this will work unless you’re using a hosting account that has a CPanel)
  2. Login to phpMyAdmin
  3. Click databases to select the database that you will be importing your data into.
  4. Depending on your setup, you will see either a list of tables already inside that database or a screen that says no tables exist.
  5. Click the Import tab
  6. Click Browse. Locate the backup file stored on your computer.  Save it from your email to your computer.
  7. Make sure the SQL radio button is checked.
  8. Click the Go button.

I crossed my fingers when completing these steps and am proud to say that it worked! :)   My blog is back up and running and I am a happy camper!

P.S. Has this ever happened to you?  I’d love to hear your story… Don’t forget to ‘Tweet’ or share this on ‘Facebook’ (or anywhere else) if you find it helpful.  :) Thanks!

I can recall the first comment I ever made on a blog – actually, I won’t forget it because I was extremely disappointed about the fact that my picture didn’t show up next to it.  You see, I had no idea of how to get my picture to display next to my comment and I [...]

Have you heard of Google Voice yet?  Well, I heard someone talking about it on a webinar that I attended a few months ago and immediately began doing some research to find out what it was and whether or not it could be an asset to me in my business.  What I found out was [...]

Another MLM Bites The Dust: iLearning Global

by Kerie Cooper March 18, 2010

iLearning Global shut its doors to their independent marketers!  It seems to happen more frequently than not, another MLM that closes its doors to their distributors.  What gives?  It is a very daunting feeling to know that the company that you’ve been promoting for months/years suddenly, and without warning, sends you an email or makes [...]

MLM Madness: Faking It Until You Make It

“Fake it until you make it” is a phrase I’ve heard of more times than I care to bring to mind throughout my journey as a Network Marketer.  If I were a gambling woman (and I am on occasion, depending on what is at stake), I would venture to say that you have also heard [...]
